01 / THE STUFFS COMPANY

Network Build Engineer (Construction of Networks)

Networks / Mexico City / Remote / Full-time / Hybrid

Salary: 35k–60k USD

02 / ABOUT THIS ROLE

The role

You don't administer networks — you BUILD them. Structured cabling, fiber, routing and switching design, wireless coverage, firewalls: from the blueprint to the acceptance report. Projects across Mexico and the Caribbean, on client sites.

What you'll do

  • Design and build LAN/WLAN/WAN: physical topology, VLANs, routing, segmentation
  • Run site surveys, cable plant certification (fluke-tested) and WiFi predictive/validating surveys
  • Configure and harden routers, switches, firewalls (zero-trust segmentation by default)
  • Deliver as-built documentation, IP plans and acceptance testing reports — in writing, always

Non-negotiable requirements (all verifiable)

  • Engineering degree (Telecom, Electronics, CS or similar) — cédula profesional; we verify it against the registry
  • CCNA certified — current, credential ID verifiable in Cisco's verification tool. CCNP earns you a senior interview directly
  • 3+ years building networks, not just watching them: you can read a cable certifier report and defend a WiFi heatmap
  • One structural cabling or fiber certification (e.g., manufacturer installer certifications — Panduit, CommScope, Belden or equivalent) — verifiable
  • English B2+ — vendor documentation and some client meetings in English
  • Physical readiness: site work, ladder lifts, occasional travel (Mexico & Caribbean)
  • Bring your own as-built portfolio: 2+ network builds with diagrams you drew yourself

What makes you stand out

  • CCNP Enterprise or specialty (Security, Wireless)
  • PMP or CAPM (we like engineers who can run the site, not just the rack)
  • Firewall certifications (Palo Alto PCNSA, Fortinet NSE 4)

Process

Technical interview with a real scenario (topology critique, 60m) → paid design exercise (branch office build) → site-mindset conversation. Scorecards and written feedback within a week.
